Los Roques Viewpoints

Five 'guardians of rock' watch over the entrance of Garajonay National Park as you approach from the capital of San Sebastian. These enormous rounded blocks were formed by magma that never came through the earth's surface and were then made visible by erosion. Today they protrude dramatically from the island’s green forest canopy like sentries. This group of viewpoints in Los Roques offers stunning views of the landscape and is part of the Unesco Biosphere Reserve of La Gomera.

Morro Velosa Viewpoint

This viewpoint is a must for those who want to discover a different side of Fuerteventura to the tourist centres. The interior of the island, a Unesco Biosphere Reserve, will amaze visitors with its rugged landscapes, completely devoid of tourist areas or sand dunes. An almost endless succession of rounded hills unfolds in front of visitors’ eyes, coloured in ochre tones and, between them, winding canyons with little towns and villages in their depths. It is an amazing landscape that evokes serenity and spaciousness.

Las Playas Viewpoint

The viewpoint in Las Playas is the perfect place to feel the tingling sensation that runs through the body when approaching a cliff. Just a 20-minute drive away from Valverde, this platform is perched on the top of a natural amphitheatre, four kilometres in diameter, whose slopes descend sometimes heights of up to 1,500 metres as they reach the sea. At its base, facing the ocean, there is a beautiful almost undeveloped semi-circular bay, with beaches fringed by the white of the waves. All found in the heart of El Hierro a designated Unesco Biosphere Reserve.

Cherfe Viewpoint

From the Cherfe Viewpoint a 360-degree panorama unfolds of the western side of Tenerife, with prominent aspects visible like Spain's highest mountain, Teide. Even the view of this volcano is unusual in that it is the less seen western face of the volcano that is visible, rather than the more typical images. In front of Teide lie the Chinyero volcano and the beautiful Santiago valley. Turn around and the sharp edges of the Teno Mountains and the village of Masca appear as well as the islands of La Gomera and La Palma rising over the Atlantic.

Degollada de las Yeguas Viewpoint

The landscape from the Degollada de las Yeguas lookout point in south Gran Canaria surprises those that view it for the first time. The panoramic vista of the Fataga valley, a winding, fifteen kilometre canyon with smooth sides and sharp, almost vertical ridges is breathtaking: The wide valley floor and deep sides are all covered with arid, desert-like vegetation and the sea glistens in the background.

Ortuño Viewpoint

The viewpoint at Ortuño is very popular with visitors travelling to or from Teide National Park along Tenerife’s mountainous spine, especially at the end of the day when the viewpoint offers the chance to witness one of the island's spectacular sunsets. The sun sets on the highest mountain in Spain, bathing the steep slopes of the north of the island in shades of red and purple as the sea laps gently at its base. It's a paradise for photography enthusiasts.

Bascos Viewpoint

The west of the island of El Hierro was known as the ‘end of the world’ in ancient European maps. The Bascos Viewpoint is the perfect vantage point to contemplate this rugged landscape, which has been designated a Biosphere Reserve by Unesco. Its location on the top of an imposing cliff allows it to dominate the whole of the El Golfo valley, a dramatic rift valley 15 kilometres wide and up to 1,500 metres deep, caused a prehistoric landslide. On a clear day the island of La Palma is visible above the blue Atlantic.

Abrante Viewpoint

At first glance, the Abrante Viewpoint seems pretty much like any other. However, high up on the ravine in the north of La Gomera where this viewpoint is located, visitors don’t simply overlook the precipice, they “float” over it. A seven-metre overhang with a glass floor lies at the far end of this viewpoint, overlooking a typical rural landscape of the Canary Islands. Seize the courage to walk on it and feel as if you are suspended in mid-air.
