MUNA – The Museum of Nature and Archaeology

Located in the historic quarter of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, MUNA – The Museum of Nature and Archaeology occupies the old Nuestra Señora de los Desamparados Civilian Hospital. This beautiful 18th-century property is the perfect setting for immersing yourself in the natural and archaeological heritage of Canary Islands. The permanent exhibition is divided into Archaeology and Natural Sciences, with numerous displays and panels designed for the whole family to enjoy.

Natural Park of the Chinijo Archipelago

In the north of Lanzarote, we find the wonderful Chinijo Archipelago, comprising La Graciosa, Alegranza, Montaña Clara, Roque del Este and Roque del Oeste. This protected natural space covering 700 km2 is the largest marine reserve in Europe. From El Río Viewing Point, on Risco de Famara, at a height of 400 metres, you can see the spectacular scenery of the archipelago, and the narrow strip of sea that separates Lanzarote from La Graciosa, a little island that is perfect for disconnecting, enjoying paradisiacal beaches in an atmosphere of total peace or doing water sports.

Barranco del Infierno

The Barranco del Infierno (Ravine from Hell), so called due its abrupt features, is a protected natural space in the municipality of Adeje, in the south-west of Tenerife. Along with other ravines and rocks in the area, it forms the Barranco del Infierno Special Nature Reserve, a beautiful landscape bursting with nature and lots of biodiversity that houses numerous endemic species. Noteworthy birds include the booted eagle, the raven, the kestrel and the Scopoli’s shearwater. This nature reserve, which is also of significant archaeological value, is home to countless caves with interesting cave carvings.

Barranco de Las Angustias

The protected landscape of Barranco de Las Angustias covers four municipalities on La Palma: El Paso, Tijarafe, Los Llanos de Aridane and Tazacorte. This incredible natural space with enormous scenic value borders the Caldera de Taburiente National Park. The ravine starts at the area known as Dos Aguas, where the permanent streams from the caldera merge together: a fabulous place to go hiking due to its extraordinary beauty and uniqueness. Along the way, visitors will be able to see the Shrine to Nuestra Señora de Las Angustias – who is highly venerated on the island.

(CACT) Casa-Museo del Campesino (House museum of the peasant farmer)

In the centre of Lanzarote, next to the roundabout just outside San Bartolomé is the Casa Museo del Campesino (House museum of the peasant farmer). Designed by César Manrique, it is inspired by the typical architecture of Lanzarote with its bright white walls. Its Monument to Fertility, standing at 15 metres tall and braving the winds, grabs everyone’s attention as they go by. Inside the museum itself, the visitor will discover the secrets of local handcrafts, traditions and the way of life of farmers on the island.

Museo Canario

The Museo Canario in the capital city Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in northeast Gran Canaria hosts a large collection of prehistoric artifacts from the whole Canarian archipelago. These are displayed in a series of exhibition rooms and are fascinating for anyone curious about the history of the Canary Islands. The collection of mummies and skeletons is of particular interest and are the most photographed exhibits (no flash allowed). Enter the mummy room and you feel like you are in an old-fashioned laboratory.

Siam Park
