The unique arid landscape of Fuerteventura is discovered bit by bit on this circular route which starts in the northwest and includes cycle routes signed with information panels explaining the uniqueness of the surrounds. From the village of Lajares, the starting point, you bike through volcanoes until you get to Corralejo, the biggest tourist town on the island and the best place to contemplate the Tostón lighthouse. Then, it is westward and after taking the road to Majanicho, there’s an endless line of wonderful beaches and coves while advancing towards El Cotillo.

The stretches of road and track alternate on this circular route which starts at Valverde, the capital of El Hierro, located in the northeast of the island. It goes through the central part to the extreme west, a route which is taken every four years to celebrate the descent of the Blessed Mother of King of Kings, the best known feast day. The route goes along the beautiful steep slopes of el Julan valley, with its ravines, a landscape which descends from the Golfo valley to the sea.

Every single day someone takes a paragliding jump from Adeje’s mountains. This borough in the south of Tenerife is home to some of the best areas for paragliding in the whole of the Canary Islands, and Taucho is, without doubt, one of them. An attractive site for paragliding enthusiasts, which consistently brings pilots in from all over Europe, however it is a destination recommended only for the most experienced paragliders, due to the fact that this area is very different from the others and the flight is leeward (downwind), not windward (upwind).

La Palma is a real paradise for paragliding and one of the main flying areas is located in the municipality of Puntallana. In the northeast of the island, just 10 kilometres from its capital, Santa Cruz de La Palma, it is possible to enjoy great flights with fabulous views, from the sea to the summit which uncover an essentially green landscape, full of palm trees, banana groves and crop lands which look even more beautiful from the air.

Exceptional views and a fantastic paraglide on offer at Los Giles on the north east coast of Gran Canaria. The island’s most popular paragliding site allows you to fly safely over the capital city Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and its fabulous Las Canteras beach and come down with a soft landing. The flight is possible almost year-round and offers excellent wind conditions.

The laminar wind, ranging from light to moderate in Las Coloradas, in the northwest of the island of Gran Canaria make it a privileged place for the enjoyment of spectacular evenings from the air, with the added extra of being able to carry out top landings easily. The flights, which can last for hours and hours, make it possible to contemplate beautiful views over the bay of El Confital, Las Canteras beach and even the mountains of Gáldar, if you are lucky and the weather is good.

The north of Tenerife is home to one of the best areas for paragliding in Tenerife: La Corona. Situated in the municipality of Los Realejos, the launch site gives a take-off with north-easterly winds of mild to medium intensity. Starting at 785 metres above sea level, the jump flies over Los Realejos down to the landing site on the soft black sand of El Socorro beach. It’s a dynamic, picturesque flight over the pretty hillsides of Tigaiga, the coasline of Punta del Guindaste and the beautiful pine groves of Rambla de Castro.

Located right in the centre of Tenerife, Izaña has it all, a fact that makes it one of the best flights in Spain. The highest glide in the country and with one of the biggest drops, take off is situated at 2,200 metres above sea level in the Teide National Park – the highest peak in Spain. From there the 45-minute flight drops right down to sea level, taking you over the beautiful Orotava Valley and to the tourist resort of Puerto de la Cruz.

As well as being a paradise for nature lovers, it is also one for paragliding enthusiasts. In the beautiful municipality of Hermigua, located in the north of La Gomera, it is usual to see the sky dotted with colourful paragliders. It is the main flying spot and the busiest one on the island and has ideal conditions for doing this sport. The take off, at a height of 450 metres above sea level and the excellent face of the mountainside make the flights last for hours.

A classic flying area in Lanzarote, where the constant wind make it possible to do sports like paragliding. This take off point, situated on the Famara cliff itself, in the north of the island, is located precisely in Chimida. With a west-northwest wind direction, it is an ideal place not only for paragliding but also for hang gliding and treats gliders to spectacular views if they follow the mountainside northwards, in line with the striking cliffs which lead to Mirador del Río.
