Who is who in the Canarian sky? A few hints for watching the sky with children.

There are towns whose cultural legacy speaks to us of splendours past. So it is in the case of Antigua, in the flat central part of Fuerteventura: its centre attests to an historic and artistic heritage of great worth, which is reflected in its architecture. But if one thing in particular defines Antigua’s countryside it is the windmills that break up the flat landscape with the blades, just like bygone times, moved by the gentle, warm, trade winds.

Buenavista is the last northern town in Tenerife; the road ends here, beyond which all you find is the rocky fortress of the Teno Mountains. But the charm of this northern village is not only about its stunning scenery - it was declared a site of Cultural Interest for its historic streets and for the numerous examples of small traditional houses which combine different traditional styles brought in by the Spanish conquerors.

Caleta de Sebo is, perhaps, one of the most unusual places in the Canary Islands. It is the “capital” of La Graciosa, the only inhabited island of the Chinijo Archipelago Natural Park, to the north east of Lanzarote. Catch one of the daily boats and in twenty minutes find yourself in this sanctuary of peace, white houses and streets of pale sand along which you can stroll as if you were Robinson Crusoe. Discover tranquility in the middle of the Atlantic, a place to recharge those batteries worn out by the fast pace of everyday life.

The proposed route starts in Maspalomas, a tourist point of reference due to its climate and beaches. From the imposing lighthouse you reach the spectacular natural area of the Maspalomas Dunes, 400 hectares of sand waves with an oasis included: a pond and a palm grove. From here we enter the ravine of Fataga to the hamlet of the same name, a rural enclave that keeps the essence of the island in its houses and crops. Before, visit an archaeological site of great value.

Rarely do you get to go on a driving tour like this one. The backbone of Tenerife names nature as the architect. Departing from La Laguna, the only Canary Island World Heritage City, this route includes La Esperanza, the perfect village for breakfast before marveling at the Canary Island pines and Teide National Park. Via a direct path, you simply have to climb until you attain ecstasy with the first view of the highest peak in Spain, whose surroundings also include the astronomical observatory of Izaña.

The Canaries are the perfect place for a break by the sea. With 3,000 sunshine hours a year, there’s no denying the region has a great climate. The Islands also boast more than 500 beaches on their 3,500 km of coastline.
