Windsurfing at Salinas de Pozo

The Salinas de Pozo windsurf spot is in Santa Lucia in southeast Gran Canaria. It’s popular amongst proficient and medium-level windsurfers thanks to its excellent wave sailing conditions. The area is windy and dangerous for swimmers so its almost exclusively frequented by windsurfers. There are a range of peaks and waves with walls along the Salinas del Pozo coast and the wind is N - NE on shore.

Windsurf at Playa de Vargas

Playa de Vargas in in east Gran Canaria close to Ingenio and the airport. Its consistent wind and wave conditions make it a great spot for windsurfers of all levels although big days require a certain level of experience. At Playa de Vargas lthe wave produces multiple left and right peaks, some with large walls and tubes. The wind is at its most consistent and the spot at its best between April and September.

Windsurfing on Playa de Sotavento

Playa de Sotavento, in the south-east of Fuerteventura, is one of the best windsurfing spots in the Canary Islands thanks to its varied conditions which are suitable for all levels. Located close to Costa Calma it’s a very safe area and is ideal for learning. Another area, closer to the main break, has strong winds and the conditions are better suited for more advanced windsurfers. Sotavento beach is known for the world championship Windsurfing & Kiteboarding competitions that are held here every summer.

Windsurfing on El Cabezo beach

In the south of Tenerife, in the town of El Médano, there is a spot that is popular with the most experienced windsurfers due to the extreme wind and waves on offer at its beach: El Cabezo. Frequented by experienced windsurfers, the spot can be dangerous, especially on days when the waves and currents are powerful. The location forms part of the PWA (Professional Windsurfers Association) world tour for the discipline of wave sailing and is at its best when the trade winds blow N-NE.

It is ideal for all levels of expertise because the bay itself combines calm places ideal for beginners with breakers which more experienced windsurfers love. Besides, it is situated in one of the most popular tourist resorts on the island, which means it has accommodation, restaurants and other amenities in the surrounding area.

Windsurfing in Jameos del Agua

The windsurfing spot of Jameos del Agua is located in the north of Lanzarote, right under the tourist centre of the same name and the Cueva de los Verdes (Green Caves). It is a protected landscape of great beauty, as well as a spot for experienced windsurfers. In Jameos del Agua, where northeast trade winds are most prevalent, we find one of the best left hand waves on the island. It’s long and fast with hollow barrels and up to three metres in height.

Flag Beach in Corralejo boasts great conditions for windsurfing. It is at the north-east of the island in a protected area with landscapes of great beauty. The large expanse of beach means there is plenty of space and conditions for windsurfers of all levels and disciplines. The waves have good walls and break all along the beach with numerous peaks left and right. The bottom is sand and water entry is easy, even for beginners.

Surfing the Lloret wave

Located in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria city on the north east coast of Gran Canaria, Lloret is connected to the beach by a promenade. The wave, popular with locals, is easy to access and is in an area used for outdoor sports, SUP and bodyboarding, giving it a sporty atmosphere. There’s plenty of nearby parking, a shopping centre and lots of restaurants.

Surfing the left hand wave in San Juan

On the northwest coast of the island of Lanzarote is one of the best left breaking waves for surfing on the island, not only for its high quality but also for its excellent location. For this reason, the WQS of the ASP championship is held here as well as other local championships. It can be accessed along a dirt track from the nearby village of Caleta de Famara, and you will get to a small sandy beach with rocks and views of La Graciosa and the cliffs of Famara.

Located in the centre of the large tourist resort of Playa de Las Américas in the south of the island of Tenerife, is the most famous surfing spot on the island. Its popularity is due to the quality of waves and its location in the heart of one of Tenerife's most iconic tourist destinations. The area offers surfing, bodyboarding and Stand Up Paddle spread out along an avenue with various services such as lifeguards, restaurants, showers and parking. No wonder the spot has been used to host world class events such as the WQS and the ASP.
