Los Roques de Anaga

Two monolithic rocks planted in the middle of the ocean and in a good state of conservation that are only accessible by sea. Both the Roque de Tierra (or Roque de Dentro) and the Roque de Fuera, constantly defy the Atlantic waves with their majestic presence. Both formations constitute one of the most characteristic ecological systems of the Canary Islands, standing out for their great scientific, geological, geomorphological and landscape interest. The vertebrate fauna that inhabits these rocks is important, since several endemic species occur here, and some, such as the giant lizard of the Roque de Fuera (Gallotia galloti insulanagae), have their only known population here. Among the birds are populations of Bulwer's petrel (Bulweria bulwwerii), Madeira storm petrel (Oceanodroma castro) and Scopoli’s shearwater (Calonectris diomedea). At the top of the Roque de Tierra there is a spectacular grove of dragon trees, with almost a hundred specimens.

Los Ajaches

Located in the southeastern region of Lanzarote, Los Ajaches is a large volcanic formation that occupies the entire south of the island, with a massif in the leeward zone and stony plains on the windward side. This area of important archaeological heritage, where we find caves, engravings and traces of ancient pastoralism, is located in the municipality of Yaiza. This area, the oldest on the island, is still subject to intense dismantling due to erosion, which over the last ten million years has carved out the ravines that this natural route crosses.

Iglesia de La Candelaria

At the top of the Joapira volcano, in La Frontera, there is a curious bell tower that rises 50 metres above the Church of Nuestra Señora de Candelaria. The bell was built inside a sacred hermitage. Its purpose was for chimes to be heard throughout the Golfo valley. At this location you can see contrasting colours. There are lime coloured walls and ochre edges and ceilings with the reddish mountains in the distance.

Icod el Alto, Cruz Santa y Las Llanadas

Icod el Alto is the furthest neighbourhood from the centre of the municipality, outside the natural region of the Orotava Valley in a flatland of the Tigaiga mountains. Its 3,625 inhabitants are scattered around the Parish Church and seven hamlets or “cuarteles”: El Lance, El Dornajo, Lomo Márquez, La Gallinera, El Mazapé, La Pared, and el Lomo Juan de la Guardia. There are many important historical buildings like the Casa de La Pared, a farm that played an important role in the 17th and 18th centuries in introducing crops such as potatoes, which were then brought to the other islands.

Tanajara Viewpoint

This lookout point offers a wide perspective of the Sea of Las Calmas, and the slope of El Julan, topped at this southern end by the volcanoes of La Restinga. From here we can see the strength of the volcanic ridge or rift, which culminates in La Restinga with more than 200 volcanic cones. This lookout point was a privileged vantage point to watch the volcanic stain over the sea during the submarine eruptive episode of La Restinga. The sunsets contemplated from Tanajara have a special charm.

San Antonio Viewpoint

The San Antonio volcano lookout point is located in the south of La Palma, in the area known as Cumbre Vieja, in Fuencaliente, at an altitude of 633 meters above sea level. The San Antonio volcano lookout point has a visitor center. The lookout point is located on a trail above a volcano that erupted in 1677. From there you can see another, much more recent one (the Teneguía, which awoke in 1971). One of the two malvasia grape-growing areas on the island is located on the lava flows of the first one. While during the day this lookout point offers spectacular views of the crater and the slopes of the volcano, at night it becomes a real window to the universe.

Roque Nublo Viewpoint

Located in the central municipality of Tejeda, on the island of Gran Canaria, Roque Nublo is considered one of the largest natural crags in the world. Of special significance for the islanders, this volcanic rock rises eighty meters above its base and 1,813 meters above the sea.
