Playa de Alcalá

This beach with grey and charcoal sand is located in the municipality of Guía de Isor. It lies next to a pier with fishing boats, making it one of the most picturesque places in the area. It is approximately 30 metres long and 15 metres wide, and has some facilities such as bins and showers.

Las Gaviotas beach

Located in the north of the island, just a few kilometers from the capital, this beach is located among volcanos. The spot is a feast for the eyes. Black sand blends with the green of abundant vegetation. The site is a refuge from the crowds. It’s a great place for peace and quiet.

Liliana has been crazy about sport since she was young. She realised that beach volleyball was the one for her when she was just 13, but she never imagined that she would be a three-time Olympian, most recently at the Tokyo games with her partner on the sand, Elsa Baquerizo.
She was just 18 when she moved from Benidorm to Tenerife after accepting an invitation from the Arona sports hub and she has been a resident of the island ever since.

Integral Nature Reserve of Pinar de Garafia

The Pinar de Garafía (Garafía Pine Forest) Integral Nature Reserve is one of the best examples of pine forests on the island and one of the best preserved in the Canary Islands. Its location, in the north of La Palma, the part of the island that receives the moisture from the winds, makes it very important for recharging the underground aquifer and protecting the soil. In addition to the pine, it is home to numerous protected endemic species, such as the Echium callithyrsum, elder and giant fennel. As for fauna, there are birds such as the blue tit and the laurel pigeon.

Parque Rural de Doramas

Located in the north of Gran Canaria, this beautiful rural park of great ecological and scenic value is named after the 15th century aboriginal warrior, well-known for his bravery. Within this park, which covers more than 3,500 hectares of protected land, are located the Nature Reserves of Barranco Oscuro, Los Tiles de Moya and Azuaje, where several of the best preserved laurel forests in the Canary Islands remain. There are also other places of interest such as La Finca de Osorio (Osorio Estate) or the Cueva de Barreto (Barreto Cave).

Parque Natural de Pilancones

The Pilancones Natural Park is located in the southern half of the island of Gran Canaria and was declared a protected area in 1987 in order to preserve this ecologically sensitive site. The Ayagaures and Pilancones mountains are located in this area, the oldest on the island, with materials that are more than 12 million years old. It also borders the Nublo Rural Park and the Fataga Protected Landscape. Due to its characteristics, this area plays a key role in the protection of the soil and the recharging of the aquifer through which several ravines of great geomorphological interest and scenic beauty run in a southerly direction. On the summit there is a pine forest whose characteristics are very suitable for birdlife, which is why it has been catalogued as a Special Protection Area for Birds.

Reserva Natural Integral de Inagua

This protected area was declared an Integral Nature Reserve of Inagua in 1987. This reserve is included within the area of the Nublo Rural Park and covers the municipalities of Tejeda, Mogán and San Nicolás de Tolentino. The mountains, Inagua, Ojeda and Pajonales are home to one of the best-preserved natural pine forests in Gran Canaria. This feature, together with the fact that it is home to several major ravine sources, such as the Mulato and the Mogán, means that it plays a key role in groundwater recharge and soil conservation. Furthermore, this area is of great scientific, geological and geomorphological interest and has a spectacular landscape.

Los Tilos de Moya Nature Reserve

This reserve is one of the last laurel strongholds on Gran Canaria, a forest of trees dating back to the Tertiary Era, which features exuberant vegetation and paths that seem magical.
