El Mocanal

The picturesque village of El Mocanal, surrounded by pastures and crops, is in the north of El Hierro. This traditional hamlet is very close to El Pozo de las Calcosas, a bathing area with spectacular natural pools, perfect for cooling off with a quick dip in the crystal-clear water. It is also famous for the ‘carpets’ hand-created out of natural materials such as flowers, sand and dyed salt that cover the streets for Corpus Christi, which attracts a large number of visitors every year. Playa Grande

Playa Grande, located in Arico, is a beautiful, pleasant beach in the southeast of Tenerife. Its fine, golden sand and crystal-clear water with spectacular views of Mount Teide create an exceptionally delightful setting. We recommend visiting at low tide, as that will mean there is more space for walking, playing beachball or just sunbathing and enjoying a few relaxing dips in the sea, as there isn’t usually a current. When there is no wind, it’s a fabulous beach that is not frequented by many tourists but is popular with the locals, especially in summer.

Founded as an church manor town by the Spanish Catholic Monarchs it now offers a wide range of rural and nature tourism and is a growing trade centre thanks to the port of Arinaga.
