Arguamul

The hamlet of Arguamul was one of the most prosperous areas of the municipality of Vallehermoso until the end of the 18th century. All the small villages in the area were mainly dedicated to growing grain. Later it was also important for exporting tomatoes, which were shipped directly from Las Salinas to Los Órganos. It is the singularity of the different buildings that stands out rather than individual buildings and the beautiful La Gomera architectural style that they conserved. We can find communal wine presses and old brick ovens. It is one of the most isolated and remote hamlets in the island. In a way, this is what makes it special, being in a “wild” area that developed specific features in terms landscape and traditional practices.

Estatua de Cristobal Colón

The Bay of San Sebastián de La Gomera was an almost obligatory stopover for the first expeditions to the "New World." The good protection offered to the ships and the facility to supply fleets make this port a preferential stop; especially after the passage of Christopher Columbus on three of his four voyages to the Indies.
