The old tobacco factory in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has been remodelled as the La Regenta Art Centre. The objective of the institution is to encourage artistic production in the Canary Islands. Con vistas al Faro de Arinaga, el turquesa de sus aguas contrasta con el marrón de la arena fina y las montañas de alrededor en una playa de 290 metros de largo y 27 de ancho. Ubicada en el municipio canario de Agüimes, la Playa del Cabrón acoge a todos los amantes de la tranquilidad debido a su escasez de turistas y a su ubicación apartada del bullicio urbano. Esta playa debe su nombre a La Restinga, el pueblo pesquero donde se ubica, conocido por ser el más meridional de toda España, situado en el municipio de El Pinar, en la isla de El Hierro. Concurrida, pero tranquila, el mar en calma se funde con la arena negra de origen volcánico que caracteriza sus 50 metros de largo y 15 de ancho. La falta de oleaje la convierte en “la playa del pueblo”, una de las más familiares por el bajo riesgo en todas las épocas del año.

In the beautiful fishing village of Candelaria, to the northeast of Tenerife, there is a quiet beach. It’s 75 metres long and 20 metres wide and made with black volcanic sand and areas of gravel. If you go further along the coast, there are the beaches of La Arenita and Punta Larga. In close proximity to Candelaria—the Los Menceyes sculpture is a tribute to the Guanches, ancient inhabitants of Tenerife who are linked to the Virgin of Candelaria. It’s a great place for families to wander around.

This centre is located halfway between a zoo and a botanical garden. It covers 240,000 square metres of a natural valley known as the Barranco de los Palmitos, in the south of Gran Canaria. This park is known for its huge variety of animals, including monkeys, parrots, toucans, reptiles and a dolphinarium with space to accommodate 1,500 people and half a dozen bottlenose dolphins.

The stone houses of La Cañada de Los Gatos and La Casa de Las Siete Esquinas and the cemeteries of La Puntilla and Las Crucecitas as well as a separate section of burial caves make up Lomo de los Gatos, an archaeological complex located in the southwestern side of Gran Canaria. In the past these places formed a coastal village at the mouth of the Mogán ravine. Archaeological excavations have unearthed artefacts that go back 1,300 years. Such is the significance of the area that it has been declared as an Asset of Cultural Interest.
