A geological walk through the island's north

On the most hidden side of La Gomera lies a route that blends legends, magical landscapes, and unique geological formations. From the mythical Chorros de Epina, the route takes you through lonely viewpoints, traditional hamlets, and geological curiosities such as the Liesegang rings or the Tazo mega landslide. The short variant descends to the Punta de Alcalá viewpoint, offering spectacular ocean views, while the longer option crosses the largest palm grove in the Canary Islands, in Tazo and Alojera, until reaching the charming village of Taguluche, nestled between cliffs and open to the Atlantic. The return is demanding, but rewards you with unforgettable panoramas. A MTB or gravel route that invites you to discover the island’s wildest, most authentic and unknown side.

Through the humid paths of the laurel forest

This route is a true journey into La Gomera’s green heart. From Reventón Oscuro, the path ventures into an ancient laurel forest, where the humidity in the air, the constant coolness, and the giant plants create an almost magical atmosphere. The route gently descends through forest tracks of Garajonay National Park, passing rural corners such as Los Aceviños or Mériga, until reaching Juego de Bolas, the park’s welcome centre. A MTB or gravel experience that connects you with the island’s most pure and ancestral essence.

The Routes of San Sebastián de La Gomera

From the historic port of San Sebastián, where Columbus first sighted land before venturing into the ocean, two cycling routes await you which are pure adventure. The first leads into the Barranco de La Laja, an oasis of palm groves and gardens that climbs among traditional houses until you reach the dams that collect the mountaintop water. The path takes you to the foot of Roque de Ojila, surrounded by imposing volcanic formations called taparuchas. The ascent becomes demanding, but every pedal stroke turns into reward when the landscape envelops you and the descent becomes pure excitement. The second route is a journey along the coast toward Puntallana, where the bike seems to float above the cliffs. After leaving behind the hidden bay of Ávalos, the road opens up to one of the island’s most spectacular corners: the Aluce dome, a volcanic mass watching over the ocean. The adventure culminates at the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Guadalupe, patroness of La Gomera, at a coastal edge where time seems to stand still.

Terraces, Rock Formations and Ravines. Alajeró circular route

Alajeró is a land of large rolling hills cut by barrancos (ravines) that break the geometry of the terraces, offering an arid and unique landscape on the island. The route takes us to discover hamlets perched above the barrancos, like the distant Arguayoda, or sheltered beneath imposing roques like Imada. To top it off, a short route of just seven kilometres leads into the Barranco de Guarimiar, a deep canyon where basalt appears in cliffs that shelter small hamlets between palm groves and tiny terraces, surrounded by rocky walls. Both routes are suitable for all types of bicycles.
