The tropical climate, its trade winds and the mineral richness of its volcanic soils make Lanzarote one of the best places for the cultivation of aloe vera. The use of this plant, known for its beneficial properties, is increasingly widespread throughout the world. For the Canary Islands it is so important that there are six museums (Arrieta, Punta Mujeres, Yaiza, Teguise, La Graciosa and La Esperanza) that revolve around aloe vera. The museum, which has been declared a Center of Tourist and Cultural Interest, has several panels that tell the history and culture surrounding this plant, as well as the production system used for cultivation and harvesting. These panels also show the different types of uses for the latter, including therapeutic applications for the skin and cardiovascular system. The center also has an audiovisual room.
