Reserva Natural Integral de Inagua

This protected area was declared an Integral Nature Reserve of Inagua in 1987. This reserve is included within the area of the Nublo Rural Park and covers the municipalities of Tejeda, Mogán and San Nicolás de Tolentino. The mountains, Inagua, Ojeda and Pajonales are home to one of the best-preserved natural pine forests in Gran Canaria. This feature, together with the fact that it is home to several major ravine sources, such as the Mulato and the Mogán, means that it plays a key role in groundwater recharge and soil conservation. Furthermore, this area is of great scientific, geological and geomorphological interest and has a spectacular landscape.

Centro Etnográfico Casa de Las Quinteras

If you want to discover life in the workshops of professionals operating in the blacksmith, textile, wood and clay industries that existed in El Hierro’s past, there is nothing like visiting the old home of the Las Quinteras family. The restored site is located in Villa de Valverde. There are four rooms. In these spaces there are historical samples on show. The ethnographic samples—including pre-hispanic remains—have been collected by the island council. Handcrafted pieces are sold in the shop to promote the development of native crafts. The works on display show that contemporary artists from El Hierro continue the island’s philosophy of self-sufficiency and sustainability.
