On 11 and 12 June 2026, the Canary Islands will receive the official visit of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV.
During these days, various events will be held in Gran Canaria and Tenerife, which means that certain areas may experience higher footfall and special mobility and security measures will be in place.
Most tourist services, accommodation, restaurants, shops and activities will continue to operate normally. However, if you plan to travel through the areas where events will be held, we recommend that you plan your journeys in advance.
What might affect my trip?
During the visit, the following may occur:
- Temporary traffic restrictions on some roads and urban routes.
- Security checks at certain access points.
- Increased footfall in specific areas.

- San Cristóbal de La Laguna.
- Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
- Surroundings of Santa Cruz de Tenerife port.
