Playa de Las Canteras

Natural Cradle of Surfing in Gran Canaria

With its 2,250 meters of fine golden sand, surfing is a tradition in this natural area located in the heart of the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Around the beach there are multiple surf schools for adults and children of all ages. Moreover, it is a very well equipped area with accommodation, stores and clubs for lovers of this sport, as well as those who want to get started in the sport.

Spots: La Barra and La Cícer

Veteran surfers will enjoy La Barra, the spot located on the rock barrier in front of Las Canteras Beach, also known by the same name. There are three distinct peaks that break at high tide, with very fast, short, tubular waves. For beginners, La Cícer is one of the easiest and friendliest surf spots in the archipelago. It’s a spot full of surfers of different levels and the reason is simple: there are perfect conditions for everyone. Sustainability
Sostenibilidad
- Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats, which pose a serious threat to the fauna.
- Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
- Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants.
- Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
- Try to use ocean- friendly sun creams.
