Surfing at Los Lobos

The longest wave in the Canary Islands to surf
On the south-west coast of Lobos, a small islet north of Fuerteventura, you’ll find the longest wave in the Canary Islands. Los Lobos is an unusual wave but when the ideal conditions converge it becomes the perfect wave in its length, varied sections and quality. To access the spot you have to take a boat that sails from the tourist resort of Corralejo to reach Los Lobos and follow a track from its port for about an hour until you have gone around the Montaña Caldera volcano.
A surf spot for all levels on Lobos Island
La Derecha de Lobos is between 300 and 500 metres long and runs along the coast until it drops into the sea. It is a consistent wave with sections for critical turns and other manoeuvres. Its variety of sections provide opportunities for all levels. The chances of finding the best conditions increase between October and March, with S-SE-SW-E winds and W-NW-N swell, with waves of one to four metres. You can enter the water from a jetty or walk over the volcanic reef, always wearing boots.

Sustainability
Sostenibilidad
- Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats, which pose a serious threat to the fauna.
- Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
- Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants.
- Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
- Try to use ocean- friendly sun creams.
