Village of Tegueste

A town that has been declared a Place of Cultural Interest

In the north of Tenerife and close to the city of La Laguna, Tegueste has an historic centre that has been labelled a Place of Cultural Interest. Not all towns can pride themselves on this honour, but the unique nature of its historic and artistic collections more than justifies this title. Situated between ravines and close to the Anaga Rural Park – a natural treasure of Tenerife – this town has evolved into a reference point for wine tourism and its rural landscape is a veritable sea of vineyards.

Visit bodegas and discover Tegueste's history

Getting to know the history of this picturesque town is about going deeper into its wine tourism. Through the local tourism office, you can book a place on guided wine tours, which will bring you to the agricultural corners of the town and, to the bodegas where the town’s excellent wines are produced. Tegueste also has a complete network of well-signposted nature trails which will bring you to the most important sites of interest such as the emblematic foundational site of the town at La Arañita or the interpretation and ethnographic centre at Casa de los Zamoranos.

Sustainability
Sostenibilidad
  • Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats, which pose a serious threat to the fauna.
  • Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
  • Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants.
  • Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
  • Respect and look after the area's historic and cultural heritage, along with the different items of public furniture (information panels, railings, seats, lighting, etc.).
