On a detour off the La Esperanza road to the majestic Mount Teide, we find this spectacular Canary Islands pine forest (northeast of Tenerife). Nearby is La Laguna (World Heritage Site) and the little town of La Esperanza, which has all the services a visitor may require. The Canary Islands pine is a conifer that is endemic to the islands and is unusually resistant to fire, in addition to its high scenic and ecological value.
Area of Canary Islands pine trees
In spite of having areas of dense scrub, most of the map allows you to cross the pine forest comfortably, with lots of changes in orography and severe elevation variances, cliffs and areas of rocky ground. The map is extensive and has some very difficult areas and also a large network of trails, which means you can plan different types of training depending on your goals and standard. At the end of the day, you can enjoy the recreational area marked on the map or visit the historic area of the nearby town of La Laguna with its wide range of cultural options during the day and leisure options at night.
