Running through the wonderful surroundings at the top of Gran Canaria—at the heart of the Biosphere Reserve—is a unique experience. A day out allows you to combine some orienteering with a visit to the little village of Tejeda, a hike to the iconic Roque Nublo and/or taking the best photos from the highest point on the island: Pico de las Nieves, from where you can get both Roque Nublo and Mount Teide into the same picture.
Usual venue for the Gran Canaria O-Meeting
This area has an excellent map for doing some orienteering, as it includes a good variety of areas that allow you to train in different techniques and categories: Canary Island pine forests, areas of microrelief, open terrain, choice of routes, fine orienteering... It is also the usual venue for the biggest orienteering event in Canary Islands: The Gran Canaria O-Meeting, which brings together hundreds of sportspeople from all over the world every Christmas.
