An alternative swimming and relaxation spot in Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura is synonymous with endless beaches of fine white sand. However, the west coast with its rougher seas hides some incredible treasures for those seeking something entirely different. Aguas Verdes, in Betancuria, is one such treasure, and is a perfect example of the many unspoilt natural pools found in the Canary Islands: six kilometres of pools dotted along the coastline, where the priority is relaxing and escaping from any traces of the human rat race.
Excursions and unspoilt rock pools in Betancuria
The nearest evidence of human life to this collection of natural pools is the road which takes you nearby and the dirt paths that lead you to the pools. Don’t be surprised to find local squirrels as you make your way to the pools, and look out for the large crabs that inhabit the rocks. A swim in these clean, warm waters is the icing on the cake of this alternative excursion in an island renowned for its beaches.
