Casa de Los Balcones

A historic gem with carved wooden balconies and a Canarian patio

In the historic centre of La Orotava in the north of Tenerife is an architectural gem of the 17th Century, whose carved wooden balconies beautifully decorated with flowers attract everyone’s attention. Inside, visitors will discover a beautiful Canarian patio surrounded by samples of typical handicrafts from the Canary Islands, from wine making to weaving and wicker work. In its rooms you can discover how to make traditional handmade products and learn about the way of life on the islands two hundred years ago.

Discover traditions in an historic Canarian manor house

Opposite the Casa de los Balcones visitors will find the Casa del Turista. Stunning views of Mount Teide can be seen from the patio and samples of the famous alfombras de arena (decorative sand carpets), made each year during the local celebrations in La Orotava, are displayed. In addition, the imposing Casa Lercaro boasts a very popular café and restaurant, perfect for some stately lounging around.
