Castillo de la Luz

The world legacy of a Canarian artist

The Martín Chirino Art and Thought Foundation is located within the wall of the Castillo de La Luz (the Castle of the Light). It is the oldest fortification in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. In 1941 it was declared as a Historic-Artistic Monument. This spot is a centre for art, debate, and culture. It is a place where history, archaeology, and the legacy of Martín Chirino come together. Martín Chirino was an internationally renowned Canarian and Spanish artist and iron worker who lived in the second half of the twentieth century. The foundation is a fitting tribute to his legacy.
