Kitesurf on El Médano beach

A kitesurfing spot with the best wind conditions
Found in the south of Tenerife, near the Reina Sofia airport, El Médano boasts ideal wind conditions for kitesurfing. The beach also offers a specially designated zone to set up kites, and there are different areas available, suitable for all levels of experience. The sport can be practised all year round, however it’s during the summer when it becomes one the most popular destinations for kitesurf lovers in Tenerife, especially when the winds blow in a northerly and north-easterly direction.
Kitesurf schools in one of Tenerife’s tourist destinations
The sandy seabed makes entry into the water in El Médano easy even for beginners, while the life-guard service makes kitesurfing in this spot – which is possible at any time of day, irrespective of the tide - very safe indeed. A wide variety of tourist services are available alongside the beach, including a selection of shops and accommodation options, as well as several bars, cafés and restaurants. There are also a number of kitesurf schools and places to hire specific equipment.

Sostenibilidad
- Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats, which pose a serious threat to the fauna.
- Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
- Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants.
- Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
- Try to use ocean- friendly sun creams.
