Romería Bajada de las Hayas

The "Bajada de las Hayas" is a traditional celebration in La Guancha, which takes place in mid-August during the festivities in honor of Our Lady of Hope, the patron saint. The residents, dressed in traditional costumes, participate in a pilgrimage to the mountains to gather beech branches. Afterwards, they decorate the streets through which the procession honoring the Virgin passes. This tradition, rooted in the activities of former owners of pack animals, includes stops with tastings of local products and beverages along the route.
