In Icod de los Vinos, the night of San Juan transforms into an explosion of light and color with one of the most anticipated celebrations of the year. The tradition of the "Hachitos" has deep roots that trace back to the indigenous era. The "Hachos," which are candelabras between two and three meters tall made of wood, are decorated with branches, flowers, and ribbons. Their ends are equipped with containers wrapped in cloth soaked in oil, where torches are lit. As night falls, the bonfires are ignited, marking the beginning of a procession that travels from La Vega to El Amparo. The celebration is accompanied by the music of "tajaraste," creating a joyful and festive atmosphere that brings the community together in this ancestral tradition.
