La Zarzuela en el Circo de Marte - Festival de música española y zarzuela de La Palma

La Zarzuela en el Circo de Marte presents "La Leyenda del Beso" by Soutullo and Vert at the Teatro Circo de Marte in Santa Cruz de La Palma, as part of the Spanish Music and Zarzuela Festival. This performance, divided into three acts with a libretto by Enrique Reoyo, José Silva Aramburu, and Antonio Paso, premiered successfully at the Teatro Apolo in Madrid in 1924. Celebrated for catapulting Soutullo and Vert to fame, it blends zarzuela and operetta elements with melodramatic and exotic touches. Its music, characterized by its high quality and lyrical depth, stands out for its orchestral richness, a feature uncommon in zarzuela until composers like Sorozábal, Guridi, and Usandizaga emerged.
