The Contemporary Festival in Gran Canaria features the versatile Canarian percussionist Víctor Barceló with his program ‘Lux Machina’, supported in audio, sound, and visuals by Fernando Manassero. This performance includes a repertoire of mostly recent works, featuring the premiere of a piece by a Canarian composer and an adapted version of a Terry Riley piece from 1967. The program includes works such as Alberto Bernal's "Impossible Translations #3b" (2015) for drums and video, Riley's "A Rainbow in a Curved Air" in a version for vibraphone and electronics by Barceló (2021), Igor C Silva's "Zone#1" (2019) for percussion, video, and electronics, Isandro Ojeda's "Soledad Digital" (2021) for vibraphone, video, and electronics, Kaj Duncan David's "4c0st1ctr1g3r" (2017) for Midi Pad, 909 Clap, 808 Kick samples, and lights, and the premiere of a yet-to-be-titled work by Paula Pinero. The event promises an innovative experience that combines percussion with technology and visual art.
