Stabat Mater

The Teatro Pérez Galdós presents 'Stabat Mater', a work by Luigi Boccherini known for its innovative interpretation of the classic liturgical text. Boccherini composed his first version of 'Stabat Mater' in 1781 for soprano and string quintet, influenced by Pergolesi but with a distinctive galant style and richer interior voices. This original version, scarcely known until recently, was available only in a manuscript that belonged to Luis Picquot. In 1800, Boccherini revisited the work with a second version for two sopranos, tenor, and string orchestra, titled 'Stabat Mater Opus 61'.
