Carnival: The Rescue of the Sardine

The Rescue of the Sardine is an emblematic event of the Carnival of Maspalomas, consisting of a parade where a sardine, appearing moribund in the Maspalomas Lagoon, is carried on a platform to the Anexo II Shopping Center. During the route, which crosses the beaches of Maspalomas and Playa del Inglés, it passes by La Cañada Penca beach. This event, with some variations over the years, has remained a hallmark of the carnival and attracts thousands of tourists, who enjoy the fusion of the festive carnival atmosphere with the traditional sun and beach experiences.
