Playa de Punta Larga

A fun family beach in Candelaria

60 metres long, Punta Larga is a beach that lies between La Arenita and Las Arenas. Taken together the three beaches add up to about 230 metres in length. This means they’re a great spot for running with ocean views. Because of the volcanic sand, pebbles, and boulders—water shoes are recommended, although you can access the sea directly through a 35 metre platform. This location is rarely busy, except in summer. It’s a fun family beach that’s protected by a breakwater so that children and adults can enjoy a safe swim.

Dark sand and turquoise waters

Punta Larga can be easily accessed on foot. It can also be reached by a wheelchair ramp on the promenade which is full of restaurants. Visitors can arrive by bus or by car with parking on the Avenida Marítima. This is an ideal beach for those who want to sunbathe on the sand or on special wooden platforms. Local facilities are set up in the centre of the location. They include a kiosk, toilets, and a changing room available for free.

Sustainability
Sostenibilidad
- Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats.
- Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
- Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants from the environment.
- Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
- Do not use soap or gel in the showers located at the entrance to the beach.
- Try to use ocean- friendly sun creams.
- Pets are prohibited at most beaches. Make sure you can take them beforehand.
- Try not to alter the peace of the environment with excessive noise (loud music, yelling, etc.) or activities that might be bothersome, such as ball games.
