Los Patos beach

A nudist beach and a paradise in Tenerife

Los Patos beach is legendary amongst nudists in the Canary Islands. Located in the spectacular La Orotava valley, with Teide in the background, the volcanic sand of this virgin beach widens over the summer and at low tide leaving one of the largest expanses of beach in northern Tenerife; similar to Fuerteventura's vast beaches. If, on top of that, the normal waves relax a little, bathing in these clean, cool waters in complete harmony with nature is just priceless. A veritable paradise.

The beach with the most volcanic sand in the Canary Islands

This beach is located in El Rincón, a protected area of two million square metres with banana plantations and another three top-quality beaches. Although difficult to access, reaching its warm sands and enjoying the silence; the solitude, the majestic cliffs and the views over the resort town of Puerto de la Cruz is well worth the effort. After the tide has gone out, take a long walk across the plains of sand or splash through the tidal pools. Well worth the trip.

  • Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats.
  • Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
  • Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants from the environment.
  • Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
  • Do not use soap or gel in the showers located at the entrance to the beach.
  • Try to use ocean-friendly sun creams.
  • Pets are prohibited at most beaches. Make sure you can take them beforehand.
  • Try not to alter the peace of the environment with excessive noise (loud music, yelling, etc.) or activities that might be bothersome, such as ball games.
