La Tejita beach

A quite beach beside the Montaña Roja Nature Reserve

You will find La Tejita beach in the south of Tenerife beside the Montaña Roja Nature Reserve. It is a quiet, kilometre-long beach that connects by road with the tourist town of El Médano and the fishing village of Los Abrigos. Its unspoilt nature has made La Tejita a favourite for young beach goers and water sports enthusiasts who are looking for a holiday beach away from the tourist crowds. The magnificent views of the Montaña Roja (Red Mountain), an old reddish-brown volcanic crater, make this beach a unique spot to enjoy the surrounding nature.

Nudist bathing in Tenerife, close to El Médano

La Tejita is a wild beach with golden sand and moderate waves. The constant wind makes this a popular choice in Tenerife for practising sports such as surfing and windsurfing, and the privacy offered on the eastern side, close to the Montaña Roja, makes it ideal for those who wish to enjoy nudist bathing in peace. There is a large car park right by the beach and there is also a nearby camping and caravan site with showers, a cafeteria and wooden cabin hire.

Sostenibilidad
- Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats.
- Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
- Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants from the environment.
- Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
- Do not use soap or gel in the showers located at the entrance to the beach.
- Try to use ocean- friendly sun creams.
- Pets are prohibited at most beaches. Make sure you can take them beforehand.
- Try not to alter the peace of the environment with excessive noise (loud music, yelling, etc.) or activities that might be bothersome, such as ball games.
