White-sand dunes and volcanic rocks

The dunes of white sand visible on both sides of the road and the turquoise blue seawater contrast with the dark colours of the volcanic rocks, all combining to create the wonderful setting of Caleta del Mero. In a paradisiacal, beautiful, nature environment in the north of Lanzarote, in the municipality of Haría, you can get to this lovely beach by car or bus and parking is available. The perfect place to disconnect and enjoy one of the prettiest spots on the island, and with enough waves for water sports such as surfing.

Natural setting with crystal-clear water

You are allowed to camp at Caleta del Mero—with prior authorisation from the Lanzarote Council—and enjoy a few days of sea and sand in contact with nature. Near the beaches of Las Cocinillas and Caletón Blanco, this wonderful nature environment of dunes and crystal-clear water will enrapture all who visit it. Definitely a wonderful place for an unforgettable day on the island.

Sustainability

- Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats.
- Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
- Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants from the environment.
- Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
- Do not use soap or gel in the showers located at the entrance to the beach.
- Try to use ocean- friendly sun creams.
- Pets are prohibited at most beaches. Make sure you can take them beforehand.
- Try not to alter the peace of the environment with excessive noise (loud music, yelling, etc.) or activities that might be bothersome, such as ball games.
