Puerto Naos beach

A blue flag beach in La Palma

Puerto Naos is the biggest beach on the island of La Palma. It is in the south-west of the island in the main tourist hotspot of the same name. Well-known for the high quality of its services it has been flying a blue flag since 2007, making it one of the most important beaches on La Palma. It is also meeting point for paragliding enthusiasts as it is an ideal spot for practising this aerial sport during a beach holiday.

The black sand beach in Puerto Naos with night-time scuba diving

The black sand from the Puerto Naos beach is volcanic but has light green hues due to the presence of olivine crystals. The beach offers a pleasant coastal path protected by palm trees offering shade to bathers and connecting visitors to various restaurants and outdoor terraces where they can enjoy local cuisine. Due to its closeness to hotels and apartments it has excellent levels of access for those with reduced mobility. As night falls it is a superb spot for night-time scuba diving and discovering the sea bed of La Palma in a very different way.

Sustainability
Sostenibilidad
- Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats.
- Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
- Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants from the environment.
- Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
- Do not use soap or gel in the showers located at the entrance to the beach.
- Try to use ocean- friendly sun creams.
- Pets are prohibited at most beaches. Make sure you can take them beforehand.
- Try not to alter the peace of the environment with excessive noise (loud music, yelling, etc.) or activities that might be bothersome, such as ball games.
