Las Conchas beach

A charming place in the form of a large beach

La Graciosa, next to Lanzarote, is the least populated of the Canary Islands. A real treasure hidden away in the northeast, Las Conchas is a beach with too many attractions to be ignored. Whether on foot – it takes 45 minutes to walk here from the main town – or by bike (20 minutes), reaching this pale sandy beach and enjoying its ever-changing ocean blue is something your senses will be forever grateful for. And if you book long enough in advance, you can even visit it on board a 4x4 taxi, one of the few vehicles that are allowed on the island. The important thing is to come here. And to enjoy.

A beach of golden sand with views of the islets of Alegranza and Montaña Clara

After a pleasant walk from Caleta de Sebo, reaching Las Conchas and relaxing on the warm sand with views of the Atlantic is an authentic pleasure. The walk is on easy semi-desert terrain. The permanent sun is combined with the landscape and the waves, which can be especially strong, as a result of which bathing is not recommended. Its views of the islets of Montaña Clara and Alegranza, the numerous shells which give it its name and the solitude, purity and feeling of freedom here make you want to come back the very next day.

- Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats.
- Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
- Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants from the environment.
- Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
- Do not use soap or gel in the showers located at the entrance to the beach.
- Try to use ocean- friendly sun creams.
- Pets are prohibited at most beaches. Make sure you can take them beforehand.
- Try not to alter the peace of the environment with excessive noise (loud music, yelling, etc.) or activities that might be bothersome, such as ball games.
