La Negra Beach

A fabulous, isolated beach

Nestled at the end of a ravine, this beach has crystal clear waters and black sand. It’s located in the municipality of Alajeró, on the south coast of the island of La Gomera. It measures 250 metres by 30 metres. You can only access the area on foot or by boat, so visitor numbers are usually low even in summer.

A paradise for divers

For lovers of diving, the clear waters and tranquility of the beach make it an ideal spot. The island of La Gomera is known for its wide variety of marine species. These include trumpet fish, parrot fish, tiger fish, and brown and black moray eels.

Sustainability

- Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats.
- Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
- Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants from the environment.
- Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
- Do not use soap or gel in the showers located at the entrance to the beach.
- Try to use ocean- friendly sun creams.
- Pets are prohibited at most beaches. Make sure you can take them beforehand.
- Try not to alter the peace of the environment with excessive noise (loud music, yelling, etc.) or activities that might be bothersome, such as ball games.
