Risco del Paso beach

Beautiful landscape with lots of sports

Risco del Paso Beach has been made famous as the subject of countless tourist postcards. Located in the south of Fuerteventura on the Isthmus de Jandía coast in the municipality of Pájara, the vicinity offers a unique sun and beach experience with gorgeous white sand that disappears into the horizon. The turquoise waters are calm when the wind is down. Winds in the area are often good though, especially in the summer months, so the spot is perfect for windsurfing and kitesurfing. In response to demand, many surf schools and specialised surf shops have sprung up.

Nature in its purest form

The Jandía Beaches, between Costa Calma and Morro Jable, can be explored on foot, practically without interruption, for 20 kilometres. Risco del Paso is in the southern area of Playa de Sotavento. It is an old fossilized beach with a sandy dune network. As a flat beach, the tides create lagoons and salt marshes on a wide coastal platform. There is vegetation with special organisms such as xerophiles (that live in sands) and halophiles (that live in saline areas) and also dozens of endemic and migratory bird species.
