A window onto the imposing Chinijo Archipelago

Halfway between the villages of Yé and Máguez, in the north of Lanzarote, we find the Guinate Viewpoint: an enclave at an altitude of 500 metres with privileged views of the Chinijo Archipelago and the vast Atlantic horizon. The waters here are home to Europe’s largest marine reserve, 700 km² of protected natural space teeming with underwater life and volcanic scenery.

This spectacular landscape sculpted by the trade winds is frequently used as a launch base by enthusiasts of paragliding and other air sports. Moreover, just a few kilometres away from the viewpoint one can visit other places of interest, like El Río Viewpoint or the ancient La Corona Volcano, the summit of which offers a volcanic tube that is 6 km long and a perfect panoramic vantage point for observing migratory birds.

Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats, which pose a serious threat to the fauna.
Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants.
Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
Respect and look after the different items of public furniture (information panels, railings, seats, lighting, binoculars and telescopes, etc.).
Respect the signposting along trails. Leaving the set paths and spaces causes damage to the environment and could also be dangerous for you and anyone with you.
Try not to alter the peace of the environment with excessive noise (loud music, yelling, etc.).
