Surfing the Lloret wave

An urban wave with a great atmosphere close to Las Canteras beach.

Located in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria city on the north east coast of Gran Canaria, Lloret is connected to the beach by a promenade. The wave, popular with locals, is easy to access and is in an area used for outdoor sports, SUP and bodyboarding, giving it a sporty atmosphere. There’s plenty of nearby parking, a shopping centre and lots of restaurants.

One of the best right-breaking waves in Gran Canaria

Lloret breaks over a volcanic rock bottom and is regarded as one of Gran Canaria’s best right breaks. Of medium length with a large face divided into sections it can also break left in the right conditions. The best conditions for Lloret are at between October and May, at low tide with S-SE-SW-E winds and N-NE-NW-W swell. Access to the water is via a small pebbly cove between the rocks but wait for the set to end before jumping in on big days as the current pushes you towards the breakwater.

Sustainability
Sostenibilidad
- Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats, which pose a serious threat to the fauna.
- Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
- Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants.
- Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
- Try to use ocean- friendly sun creams.
