A benchmark of Lanzarote’s gastronomy

Tinajo is one of those villages in Lanzarote that captivates you with its beauty and surroundings. Surrounded by the Timanfaya National Park, the Protected Landscape of La Geria and the Natural Park of the Volcanoes, Tinajo is an ideal place for lovers of water sports such as surfing. A leisurely stroll through its streets will take you to its most important buildings, such as the Church of San Roque, the Tinajo town hall, the chapel of the Virgen de los Dolores or de los Volcanes and the chapel of Nuestra Señora de Regla. Another reason to visit Tinajo is its famous cuisine. In the municipality of Tinajo is La Santa, a place that for many people is the Mecca of surfing and which has earned Lanzarote the nickname of “the European Hawaii”. La Santa offers waves sought after by experts and conditions that allow surfing every day of the year.

Sustainability

- Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats, which pose a serious threat to the fauna.
- Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
- Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants.
- Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
- Respect and look after the area's historic and cultural heritage, along with the different items of public furniture (information panels, railings, seats, lighting, etc.).
