El Cedro

A hamlet within Garajonay National Park

In the heart of the Garajonay National Park in the north of La Gomera you will find the pretty little village of El Cedro. Surrounded by a forest that is millions of years old, its isolation has allowed the village to keep its essence alive despite the passing of time. El Cedro is a true mountain hamlet, with low, traditional-style houses with their wooden doors and windows, which bring a special charm to this rural spot surrounded by lush nature.

Traditional food and houses in La Gomera

You can’t mention El Cedro without talking about its famous watercress soup, a wonderful, traditional Gomeran dish that you can enjoy in the restaurant/camping zone of Las Vistas where you can spend a few delightful days in an area where humanity and nature blend in perfect harmony. After trying the famous soup, served in wooden bowls, there is nothing better than a silent stroll through the farmlands and traditional stone houses in this unique hamlet.

Sustainability
Sostenibilidad
- Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats, which pose a serious threat to the fauna.
- Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
- Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants.
- Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
- Respect and look after the area's historic and cultural heritage, along with the different items of public furniture (information panels, railings, seats, lighting, etc.).
