A route to discover the dams and pine forests of Gran Canaria
Near Mogán, in the interior of Gran Canaria, there is a trekking route which goes through the Nublo Rural Park and Pilancones Natural Park. This 12.2 kilometre circular walk goes along dirt tracks, paths and roads and is suitable for trekkers with a degree of experience. It starts in Degollada de Cruz Grande and goes through a wonderful pine forest and onto the Soria dam, the biggest on the island. It also goes along impressive volcanic formations in the area of Cañada del Almácigo.
Enjoy the trek and see the cave houses
Along this route, the trekker can see the traditional cave houses which are still to be found in Gran Canaria. It is worth noting that there is a hostel devoted to rural tourism very near Chira dam. Given that the trek is long, take water to keep hydrated, food, warm clothing and sun cream.
