The Charco de los Sargos is, together with the Charco de La Maceta and the Charco Azul, one of the most popular bathing areas in El Golfo (Frontera). Charco de los Sargos owes its peculiar shapes to a high cliff, and the power of sea erosion over time which has made a variety of natural areas ideal for bathing. The volcanic landscape is a beach experience like no other.

A narrow cliff-top path…

The natural wonder is found after walking a few minutes down a cliff. The orientation of this part of El Hierro means it has one of the best sunsets in the entire Canary Archipelago. There is also good weather practically all year round. The well-kept recreational area, and the presence of several restaurants means younger people will be entertained and the whole family can try out the popular cuisine of El Hierro.

Sustainability

- Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats.
- Do not throw any waste or other objects into the water.
- Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants from the environment.
- Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
- Do not use soap or gel in the showers.
- Try to use ocean- friendly sun creams.
- Try not to alter the peace of the environment with excessive noise (loud music, yelling, etc.) or activities that might be bothersome, such as ball games.
- Pets are prohibited at many natural pools. Make sure you can take them beforehand.
