(CACT) Jardín de Cactus

Taking a stroll whilst enjoying the landscape of Lanzarote

The Cactus Garden is in Gautiza, in the north of Lanzarote and brings together more than 1,400 species of cacti from all over the world. It is easily recognizable from the road by the giant metallic cactus sculpture at the entrance, this cactarium was the last work carried out by César Manrique on the island. Visitors who enjoy nature will delight in strolling along cobbled paths whilst enjoying the landscape of Lanzarote in this peaceful place.

A garden designed by César Manrique

Respect for the natural surroundings is one of the keys of the architectural work of César Manrique which is clearly seen in the Cactus Garden, totally integrated into the island’s landscape. The windmill stands out against the black stone and is one of the best places to take a photo of the garden which is built in the shape of an amphitheatre. An ideal place to have a rest during the visit is next to the garden’s pond or in the café having a refreshment.
