Las Loceras Visitor Centre

Handmade ancient pottery, made without using a wheel

The Las Loceras Visitor centre is located in the centre of the town of El Cercado. This site is the perfect place to learn about pottery, one of the most important artisanal trades on the island of La Gomera. Today, visitors can go back in time and observe the traditional pottery techniques, still practiced on La Gomera, which use the hand rather than the wheel.

Engaging ways to learn about the island’s cultural history

A visitor centre tour enables people to learn about the steps undertaken by potters, from the collection of the raw material to the firing in a wood oven. There are interactive panels, pottery exhibits, and explanatory videos. The site is open every day (except Wednesdays), from 11 am to 3 pm.
