The Vargas beach kitesurfing spot in east Gran Canaria is suitable for kitesurfers of all levels and has consistent wind and waves. Located close to Ingenio and the airport it’s in a protected area close to a campsite that is full of water sports fans almost all year round. The wave has different beaks that run left and right and sometimes tube.

Kitesurfing in consistent conditions

The wind at Vargas beach is most consistent between April and September making it an ideal kitesurfing spot. The bottom is sand and rocks and the breaks are best at low tide when the are further offshore. The best winds for this spot are N-NE-SW. Although the spot is fine for beginners, some experience is needed to get into the water when the currents are strong.

Sustainability

- Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats, which pose a serious threat to the fauna.
- Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
- Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants.
- Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
- Try to use ocean- friendly sun creams.
