The Marriage of Figaro

The Teatro Leal presents "The Marriage of Figaro", a satire set in 1962, where the new Captain General and his wife must navigate the strict rules of Franco’s regime. At the Figaro Cabaret, the troupe Los Cancán is about to premiere The Wedding, a play critical of the dictatorship. Accusations of being a “nest of reds” lead the General to attend a rehearsal, where he decides to have an affair with the showgirl Susana Maninidra, triggering a farce of intrigue and deception. Directed by Mario Vega, the production features an outstanding cast and a live orchestra, blending comedy, music, and drama in a setting filled with feathers and sequins.
