Luisa Fernanda en concierto

The OFGC's season will feature a major lyrical event with the concert version of Moreno Torroba's Luisa Fernanda. Gran Canaria audiences will witness mezzo Elina Garanca’s debut in the title role - the first non-Hispanic singer to take on a zarzuela role. Renowned populariser of the Spanish repertoire, Karel Mark Chichon - for whom Luisa Fernanda is "the last great romantic zarzuela" - will conduct the OFGC and its Chorus with a cast including José Antonio López, María José Moreno and Ismael Jordi, as well as three singers from the Canary Islands: baritone Fernando Campero and tenors David Barrera and Gabriel Álvarez, in line with promoting talent from the Canary Islands. An extraordinary cast that marks a historic moment as, a few days later, Luisa Fernanda will be the OFGC's star performer at the Teatro Real, where it will be performed again.
