Lomo Carbonero Festivities

The Lomo Carbonero Festivities in honor of San Lorenzo, in the Vega de San Mateo, are a comprehensive celebration that combines religious, cultural, and recreational activities. The event starts with a pilgrimage offering, where participants, accompanied by rondallas (traditional music groups), bring offerings to the San Lorenzo chapel in a festive procession. The celebration includes a solemn function, paying tribute to the saint with a special Mass. Highlights of the event include a children’s party with games and entertainment for the young ones; a cart race, a fun competition where participants race with decorated carts; and a food contest, where typical dishes are prepared and tasted. There is also an afternoon dedicated to traditional games, reinforcing the connection with local customs. The day concludes with a community lunch and a hot chocolate gathering.
