Scuba diving in the quay at La Restinga

Nocturnal marine life in the Marine Reserve at La Restinga
For both experienced and beginner divers who want to discover the 'nightlife' of the island of El Hierro, the southern locality of La Restinga is an excellent dive spot. The depths around the entrance to the fishing port of La Restinga have great visibility and the marine life there is ideal for night dives. Its rocky bottom is home to kaleidoscopic angel fish, multi-coloured lobsters and sand eels with their penetrating gaze.

During the day time, the dive - with a maximum depth of 16 metres and a minimum of eight and a half - is perfectly accessible to divers of all levels. It's easy to access from the steps of the dock itself and has becomes a destination for both experienced and beginner divers. Budding photographers can also benefit from the calm currents enabling them to take pictures in the quay of groupers, whitebait, rooster fish, scorpion fish and a wide range of marine invertebrates.
