Los Cancajos beach

A volcanic beach near Santa Cruz de La Palma
The Los Cancajos beach is in the east of the island of La Palma, two kilometres north of the airport and also two kilometres to the south of the island capital, Santa Cruz de La Palma. The beach is a bay, protected by breakwaters of volcanic rock which guarantees tranquil waters throughout the year and a rich selection of marine life. For these reasons it’s perfect for first-time scuba dives, to initiate you into this fantastic water sport.
Snorkelling in a semi-urban beach with all the necessary services
With warm, black sands and gentle waves, the semi-urban La Cancajos beach is perfect for cave diving and snorkelling. There are toilets, showers and sunbeds and parasols for hire, parking, bus connections and access for those with limited mobility. There are also a number of restaurants nearby where you can enjoy delicious fresh fish dishes beside the sea, as well as apartments and two hotels from the H10 chain – one three star and one four star - for a really relaxing holiday in La Palma.

Sustainability
Sostenibilidad
- Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats.
- Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
- Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants from the environment.
- Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
- Do not use soap or gel in the showers located at the entrance to the beach.
- Try to use ocean- friendly sun creams.
- Pets are prohibited at most beaches. Make sure you can take them beforehand.
- Try not to alter the peace of the environment with excessive noise (loud music, yelling, etc.) or activities that might be bothersome, such as ball games.
